The Purina one is an affordable higher quality cat kibble. Both of my cats and a stray seem to like this sensitive stomach kibble. My 11 year old tabby has allergic dermatitis and his fur was looking patchy. I tackled the flea allergy issue. And figured this could also help him regrow his fur and fill in his bald spots. He's been on this kibble for 5 months now, and I see a definite improvement in his coat. I recommend Purina sensitive stomach because my cats gladly eat it, never hurl, and I notice an improvement in their coats and it is affordable, so I also donate bags to the shelter. I appreciate Purina making a better budget friendly healthier diet for those of us that have many mouths to feed.

This is the only food my 7 year old Siamese cat likes. I’m happy to be able to purchase it on Amazon and have it delivered to my front door. No hefting the heavy bag off of a shelf and into a cart and onto a conveyer and back to the cart then loaded into my car.
This is good quality cat food at a large quantity for a reasonable price. The cat’s excrement is almost odorless and firm.

This is the only cat food I've found so far that stops my cat from throwing up. My 10 year old male cat used to throw up about an hour or so after eating other dry cat foods. Once I consistently switched to this, he hasn't thrown up at all. All of my cats seem to like the flavor and it's economical for me especially since I have 8 cats.

A Decade of Kibble Scrutiny: Can This Sensitive Formula Deliver?

After a decade of scrutinizing pet food labels and observing feline reactions, I’ve learned that a product claiming to address both sensitive stomachs and skin is making a significant promise. Purina ONE’s +Plus Sensitive Skin and Stomach Formula, specifically in its 22-pound turkey variant, presents itself as a high-value solution. With a price point of roughly $2.06 per pound, it strategically positions itself between budget grocery brands and premium specialty diets, a sweet spot many pet owners seek. The staggering volume of nearly 14,000 reviews isn’t just a number; it’s a massive dataset indicating widespread trial and a strong market presence, which demands a closer look beyond the marketing.

The core of this formula’s proposition lies in its targeted ingredient strategy. The use of real turkey as the primary protein is a deliberate move for sensitivity. Turkey is often considered a novel, easily digestible protein for many cats, especially those who may have developed mild intolerances to more common sources like chicken or beef. The inclusion of prebiotic fiber is a data-driven feature, directly aimed at nurturing beneficial gut bacteria to improve digestive health—a key factor for cats prone to vomiting or irregular stools, as echoed in numerous five-star reviews where owners report a cessation of these issues. The omega-6 fatty acids and vitamins for skin and coat support address the other half of the equation, aiming to reduce inflammation that can manifest externally as itchy or flaky skin.

From a practical usage standpoint, transitioning to this food should be a gradual process over 7-10 days, especially for cats with known digestive sensitivities. The 22-pound bag offers excellent cost efficiency for multi-cat households or a single cat, but this bulk purchase requires proper storage. I strongly recommend transferring the kibble to an airtight container immediately to preserve freshness and fat integrity, as a bag this size will be open for an extended period. The high number of reviews praising palatability is a positive signal, but it’s worth noting that “finicky” is a spectrum; a small trial bag, if available, is always the wisest first investment before committing to a bulk size, regardless of the savings.

It’s crucial to maintain a realistic perspective. While “veterinarian recommended” is a valuable trust signal, this is a mass-market formula. For cats with severe food allergies, clinically diagnosed IBD, or other chronic health conditions, this food may be a good maintenance diet but is unlikely to be a curative solution and should be used under veterinary guidance. The ingredient list, while focused, does contain some grains and by-products, which are not inherently bad but are points of contention for some owners seeking grain-free or “whole food-only” diets. Ultimately, this Purina ONE formula appears to excel as a workhorse solution for the common, mild-to-moderate sensitivities many adult cats develop. It leverages proven nutritional science at a compelling price, making it a rational, data-supported choice worth trialing for the cat that occasionally vomits, scratches a bit too much, or simply needs a reliable, digestible everyday meal.

Helping Your Cat Thrive with Every Bowl

To get the most out of this high-protein, sensitive-system formula, a few simple practices can make a big difference. Start by transitioning your cat slowly over 7-10 days, mixing increasing amounts of the new food with their current diet. This allows their digestive system to adjust comfortably to the easily digestible recipe and prebiotic fiber.

Consistency is key for ongoing benefits. Serve measured portions appropriate for your cat’s age and activity level to maintain strong muscles and a healthy weight. Always ensure fresh water is available alongside the crunchy kibble, which helps clean teeth with every bite. Store the bag in a cool, dry place to preserve the great taste and natural goodness.

Observing your cat is the best guide. You should notice healthy energy, a shiny coat, and solid litter box results—signs they’re digesting this U.S.-crafted food well. If you have any questions about your cat’s specific needs, your veterinarian can provide personalized guidance alongside this nutritionally complete diet.

Your Cat’s Wellness, From the Inside Out

What makes this formula suitable for a cat with both a sensitive stomach and skin issues?

This formula is specifically designed to address the common link between digestive and skin health. It features real salmon as the #1 ingredient, a highly digestible, high-quality protein that is less likely to cause food sensitivities. It is supplemented with prebiotic fiber to support a balanced gut microbiome, which is crucial for nutrient absorption and overall immune function. For the skin, it includes omega-6 fatty acids and zinc to nourish the skin and support a healthy coat, addressing irritation from the inside.

How long should I expect to wait before seeing improvements in my cat’s digestion or skin?

While some cats may show positive signs like reduced itching or firmer stools within a few weeks, a full transition and evaluation period is typically 8-10 weeks. This allows your cat’s system to fully adjust to the new diet and for new, healthier skin and coat cells to regenerate. Always transition food gradually over 7-10 days by mixing increasing amounts of the new food with the old to minimize digestive upset during the change.

My cat is a picky eater. Will they like the taste of this food?

Purina ONE Sensitive Skin and Stomach formula is crafted with real salmon, which is naturally appealing to most cats. The high-quality ingredients and focused nutrition also contribute to its palatability. To encourage a picky eater, we recommend following a consistent transition schedule and feeding in a quiet, stress-free environment. The 22 lb. bag offers a cost-effective way to commit to the transition period needed to assess your cat’s long-term acceptance.

Are there any common allergens or fillers I should be aware of in this recipe?

This formula is intentionally crafted with simplicity in mind. It uses salmon as a primary, single animal protein source, which is beneficial for cats sensitive to more common proteins like chicken or beef. It contains no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. While it includes wholesome grains like rice and oatmeal, which are generally easy to digest, if you suspect a grain sensitivity, we recommend consulting your veterinarian to determine the best dietary approach for your cat’s specific needs.

How should I store the 22 lb. bag to keep the food fresh for my single cat?

Proper storage is key to maintaining freshness and nutritional integrity. We strongly recommend transferring the dry food from the bag into an airtight, food-safe container. Store the container in a cool, dry place, such as a pantry or cupboard, away from heat and humidity. Keep the original bag, as it contains the lot number and best-by date, and you can cut out the UPC and feeding guidelines to tape to your storage container for easy reference.
